Hilton Grand Vacation Club has been providing vacation interval ownership to over 137,000 owners for over fifteen years. Using its expertise in the hospitality industry, Hilton allows owners access to spectacular resorts in some of the world's most desirable locations. The Hilton Grand Vacation Club resorts can be divided into four categories-Hilton-built resorts developed specifically for the Hilton Grand Vacation Club since 1994; Hilton International Grand Vacation Club resorts; The Hilton Club New York; and Hilton affiliated or managed resorts which were developed by other companies before Hilton took over ownership and management. Each of the thirty-seven resorts affiliated with Hilton Grand Vacation Club are considered 'Five Star' resorts, and all are considered Gold Crown resorts with their exchange company, RCI.

Generally, Hilton Grand Vacation Club owners own a points-based usage. One will purchase a deeded one-week interest at a specific property in a particular season. The seasons are designated as Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze depending on the desirability of the week. The one-week interest is assigned a fixed annual allotment of HGVC Points based on the number of bedrooms, home resort, and season purchased. Owners will have access to charts for points and seasons for each resort. This flexible points system lets owners reserve either a traditional weekly manner with their designated unit size at their home resort. One can also exchange for the same unit size and season at another resort. Alternatively, one can break up the points for multiple vacations that are less than week long at any resort, and use bigger or smaller units in different seasons depending on how many points are owned. If the owner doesn't have enough points available for a specific reservation, points can be borrowed from the next year's usage at no charge. However, not all Hilton Grand Vacation Club owners belong to the points system-some of the Hilton managed resorts were sold as deeded, fixed weeks. These owners can continue using their fixed weeks, exchange with RCI or Interval International, or buy into the points program for an enrollment fee.

There are three HGVC reservation periods. The first period is the Home Resort Season. During this period, owners can reserve exactly what they own, a one-week vacation at the home resort, during the home season, in the unit size purchased. For Home Resort Season reservations owners can call as early as one year prior to the start of the home season, but no earlier than fifteen months in advance of the desired check-in date. The second period is the Club Season. Reservations for this season can be made as early as nine months prior to the desired check-in date and ends thirty days prior to check-in. These are first-come, first-serve reservations that can be made at any Club resort, with any number of days (with a three night minimum) for any unit size with any check-in date. The Open Season deals with last minute reservations that can only be made within a month in advance.

Owners may also exchange with RCI, which provides access to over 3,700 resorts in over 100 countries.
